Diggin’ SoCal.

I personally loved Johnny Depp as Tonto. The movie was pretty good- typical Disney business. But I just loved his character so much. He portrayed it so well.

I had a terrible dream in which John Frusciante died. I cried so hard in my dream and I just didn’t understand what was going on. I was so relieved to wake up and proceeded to watch Chili Peppers videos this morning to make up for it.

I’ve always been fascinated by live performances. Lately, I’ve been obsessing over Give It Away live. Particularly when they performed it in Oakland, California last August. I was at the show and have the show in it’s entirety burned onto a cd. I’ve become more accustomed to Anthony’s vocals in the live version than the track originally heard on Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The song completely opens up somewhere in the middle. I love the way Anthony sings “drinking my juice, young love chug-a-lug me”. There’s a pause and then a moment of magic. The song holds so much energy- from Anthony trilling his r’s to Josh’s psychedelic guitar. You can tell the Chili Peppers have always had a blast playing the song, no matter what their lineup is. I couldn’t find the version from the show I went to, but here’s one from Coachella. Live at Slane Castle is also a perfect example of a Chili Peppers experience. I’m so in love with this bands live performance.
